Wat zijn richtlijnen?

Richtlijnen worden uitgewerkt om aanbevelingen voor praktijkvoering te formuleren. Richtlijnen zijn enerzijds gebaseerd op de wetenschappelijke kennis en inzichten die beschikbaar zijn op het ogenblik dat ze worden uitgewerkt, en anderzijds op een synthese van de meningen van experten. Aangezien de beschikbare wetenschappelijke kennis voortdurend evolueert, is het noodzakelijk richtlijnen op regelmatige tijdstippen te evalueren en eventueel aan te passen.

Richtlijnen geven een advies of richtsnoer om de besluitvorming te ondersteunen en kwalitatieve zorg te geven, maar de eigen deskundigheid blijft belangrijk. In bepaalde omstandigheden kan het noodzakelijk of wenselijk zijn om van de richtlijnen af te wijken om tegemoet te komen aan de individuele behoeften van de zorgontvanger.

Op deze pagina heeft de VLOV vzw de meest recente versies gebundeld van richtlijnen die voor vroedvrouwen relevant zijn. Deze aanbevelingen werden onder andere uitgewerkt door volgende instanties:
